We are pleased to announce that the first showing of the 2013 W.I.P. New Dance Series will take place on Saturday June 29th with a new selection of choreographers. The second showing featuring all new choreographers is on Sept 28th. The Gala of finished work will take place on December 7th at the Refinery Theatre.

This series is designed to provide a venue for both emerging and professional choreographers who are working in the area of contemporary and innovative choreography and is open to all dance artists in both the province of Saskatchewan and across Canada. Each performance will present up to 5 different choreographers. The showings are open to the public and will take place at The Free Flow Dance Centre 224 25th St. W. Saskatoon.

The choreographers featured in the September W.I.P. performance include: Jessie Garon (Los Angeles), Free Flow Dance Theatre (Saskatoon), Rae Ann Neilson (Saskatoon), Ntara Curry (Wynyard)

Improv Dance Workshop with Jessie Garon - Los Angeles

Jessie Garon's classes are guided improvisation and open to all levels of experience. Drawing from her experience she will suggest various forms of imagery to use as techniques for improvisation, both in performance and as a tool for creation. Through this class participants will explore sensations and qualities in the body and connect to their technique, form and find the pleasure of movement.

Workshop fee: $20

Jessie Garon is a graduate of The School of Toronto Dance Theatre where she worked with Serge Bennathan, Sharon B. Moore, Valerie Calam, Christopher House, Sasha Ivanochko, Roger Sinha, Gerry Trentham, and William Yong. As well, Garon has studied with, Bat Sheva Dance Company, Gallim Dance Company, and MOVE: The Company. As an independent Contemporary Dance Artist she has performed across Canada and has received the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Dance Training Grant in both 2010 and 2011. Currently, she is an intern with Danielle Agami’s “Ate9 dANCE cOMPANY” in Montreal Canada.

You can pay your workshop fee in advance to secure your spot at the Free Flow Dance Centre any time or make arrangements to pay at the W.I.P. New Dance series showing on June 29th or at the door on the date of the workshop by contacting Jackie Latendresse.
